Wasa Lodge is a very simple, rustic camp owned and operated by the Kasanka Trust.
A good base from which to explore the Kasanka National Park and the closest lodge to the Kasanka Bat Forest. The chalets overlook the lake and offer a tranquil setting.

Location
Located in Kasanka National Park - Wasa Lodge is located near the airstrip and is the closest accommodation to Maluashi Gate. It is also situated in an area of the park that offers great viewing of puku, hippo, sitatunga and of course, is the closest lodge to the famous Kasanka Bat Forest.
Accessed via charter flight from Lusaka or South Luangwa. Drive time from Lusaka – either self drive or with organised transfer is approximately 7 hours

4 x Large chalets with double and single beds in the room, 3 x Smaller rondavels with double or twin beds
Room features – All chalets are set in the treeline overlooking the lake
The larger chalets have a verandah and an en-suite bathroom with simple shower, basin and flush toilet
Yhe smaller chalets have an en-suite bathroom with flush toilets and simple bucket
The main dining area has beautiful views and is complemented by a cozy bar and chill zone while many a warm and cold drink are enjoyed around the fireplace outside the main building.
The Bat Migration is the main attraction at Wasa - This migration only takes place for about 90 days from late October to mid December.

Birding: The Luwombwa River and Bufumu Forest with its treetop canopy tower offer some superb birding but really, there are incredible specials to be found all over the park such as Bohms Bee Eater, Fuelleborn’s Longclaw, African Pitta and Ross’s Turaco among other interesting species

Kasanka National Park is managed by the Kasanka Trust which is a wildlife charity based in Zambia, the UK and the Netherlands.
The Trust’s main objectives are to secure the future biodiversity of Kasanka National Park and to stimulate, as well as sustain the local economy through its mission of “Tourism for Conservation”.
The Kasanka Trust relies entirely on donor funding and income received through tourism to run and manage its projects.
The Trust engages with communities and partners to promote sustainable livelihoods development to secure alternative sources of income to poaching.
Poaching for bush meat and elephant ivory are a major threat to Kasanka’s wildlife. The Trust employs up to 30 trained scouts to work with DNPW to provide effective law enforcement for the park, conducting regular patrols to remove snares and apprehend poachers.
