African Bush Camps - Somalisa Camp

Hwange National Park

Somalisa provides guests with breathtaking views of the golden savannah plains of Hwange. A place where, one moment you are sipping on your gin and tonic listening to the distant baritone roar of a lion coalition on the hunt and the next, you are gazing over at a congregation of elephants mere meters away, peacefully sharing a sundowner with you.

African Bush Camps support many different projects in Hwange with some of the details outlined below. For more detailed information on each of these projects please feel free to follow this link

Conservation & Wildlife Fund Trust is a collaborative group of concerned and passionate conservationists working together with local stakeholders to ensure the long term viability of Zimbabwe’s wildlife and habitats in the Hwange region of north-west Zimbabwe.

Education – High School Scholarships and Internships - families from the Hwange Main Camp and Mambanje communities in Zimbabwe that care for vulnerable or orphaned children often struggle financially and are unable to pay for their education. Children also often drop out of school because their help is needed to run the family homestead and young girls are often expected to assist with traditional household role of looking after their younger siblings, fetching water and cooking. Without the resources to attend school, the level of education within the community cannot improve limiting the children’s opportunities later in life.

Conservation Projects - African Bush Camps supports a number of conservation projects in the Hwange area including the Mambanje Mobile Catlle Boma Iniative and the Mambanje Lion Guardian Programme.
