Sanctuary Sussi and Chuma


Named after Dr. David Livingstone's faithful friends Sussi and Chuma, the lodge is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Zambezi amidst Jackalberry trees and Phoenix palms, providing unrivalled views and exclusivity. Accommodation is in twelve Sussi tree-houses, connected by wooden walkways. There are also two private Chuma houses, each with two bedrooms ideal for families and friends travelling together and wanting total privacy and exclusivity.

Sanctuary Sussi and Chuma

Sanctuary Sussi and Chuma is built on a dramatic bend of the Zambezi River in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, twelve kilometres upstream from the world-famous Victoria Falls. The lodge is a 25 minute road transfer from Livingstone Airport. Road transfers can also be arranged (at an additional cost) from Victoria Falls town, Victoria Falls Airport and from Kasane in Botswana (1 hour 30 minutes.) Guests may self-drive to the lodge should they wish.


The lodge has 12 Luxury Treehouses and 2 Chuma Houses.

12 luxury treehouses built into the canopy of majestic ebony trees lining the riverbank and connected by raised wooden walkways.

Children 6 years and older are welcome in the Treehouses and children of all ages are welcome in the Chuma houses

There are no family rooms at Sussi Lodge – Chuma House is ideal for Families

Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma began working with Nakatindi Village and School, situated in Livingstone, in 2010 and with the help of the community elders they were able to identify various projects they could get involved with, on an ongoing basis.
