Kulandila Camp is a property under the Sungani umbrella which is the most southerly safari operation in South Luangwa National Park, roughly 70 kilometres from Mfuwe Town in a remote and exclusive area. Kulandila Camp is slightly upstream from Sungani Lodge. The family operation has transformed a once-neglected area into a luxurious safari dream. Sungani means custodian/ keeper in a local language and rightly so as the Sungani family have become keepers of this remote gem!
Kulandila which means to welcome/ to receive is a lovely camp that boasts gorgeous views, delicious comfort food, comfortable accommodations, knowledgeable and passionate guides and hospitable staff ready to welcome their guests and cater to their needs. The camp is set amongst lush vegetation and has a down to earth feel for those who want a more authentic safari experience. The main area of the camp has a variety of seating spaces with unique art pieces and a main pool where guests can spend some time cooling off and keeping eye out for game on the banks below.
Kulandila is situated on the banks of the Luangwa River backing onto a lagoon. Surrounded by lush vegetation the camp is a bush oasis. The lodge focuses on giving back to the community through local employment. Along with a steady job they ensure employees skills are developed further through indepth training. They also work closely with CSL, ZCP & DNPW to keep conservation at the heart of the operation.
The camp is run completely off solar power with a back-up generator if required. The camp also has a filtration plant to clean the borehole water which is then further treated through reverse osmosis making it safe (and delicious) to drink.
There is WiFi available in the communal area only.
