Time + Tide King Lewanika

Liuwa

Experience the magic of Liuwa Plain, which is home to Africa's second biggest wildebeest migration, magnificent birdlife, a growing cheetah population and the famed Lady Liuwa lion pride.

Despite its luxurious design, Time + Tide King Lewanika retains its safari authenticity with canvas walls, indoor and outdoor showers, decks overlooking the plains and the use of natural materials. The villas offer total immersion in the vast landscape, allowing travellers to experience nature's masterpiece in a meaningful way. With award-winning guides and intimate safari excursions, this camp offers unrivalled access and absolute exclusivity to the region.

Location

Liuwa Plain is situated on the upper Zambezi flood plains of western Zambia and is bounded by the Luambimba and Luanginga Rivers. Vast, remote and untamed, Liuwa is characterised by seasonally-flooded grassy plains dotted with woodland islands. King Lewanika Lodge is located on the upper Munde stream.

Scheduled flights are operated into Kalabo Airstrip twice a week – either out of Livingstone or Lusaka depending on the time of year. Charter flights can also be organised. Access into camp is either via a 15-minute scenic helicopter flight from Kalabo Airstrip or a two and a half hour road transfer which gives the visitor a fascinating insite into the local village life which then extends into a game drive.
